Abstract: The study addresses the importance of data visualization (DV) in today's society, and its role in the effective communication and interpretation of data in various sectors. The cognitive nature of DV and the impact on decision making were analyzed. Likewise, different DV techniques and applications in fields such as healthcare, business management, scientific research, and academia are explored. Concrete examples of the application of DV in business management, scientific research, journalism, media, politics and government management are provided; and highlights the usefulness in each of these contexts. In addition, various tools and software that are widely used for VD are mentioned
