Use of traditional and agile methodologies in companies in the city of Buenos Aires

Abstract: In the present document, a research project in information technologies was developed to explore the level of preference and transition between traditional and agile methodologies in the business environment, as well as customer satisfaction in software development projects in the year 2023. The method employed was a non-experimental descriptive approach, surveying individuals from companies in the technology sector in the city of Buenos Aires; including two from the banking sector and two IT companies —one specializing in software development and the other in testing services. The results revealed a trend towards agility in software development practices, even among teams that do not identify as agile. While traditional approaches coexist, agile teams show greater adaptability to changes, continuous customer engagement, and effective internal collaboration. The transition to agile methodologies is imminent due to the need for training and a shift in mindset, with positive experiences noted as these practices are gradually adopted. The findings of this research highlighted the importance of training programs and the added value in teams who use agile methodologies.
