THE STATUS OF THE LABIO-DENTAL [F] IN THE AVAR LANGUAGE

Abstract: ABSTRACT. Aim. To substantiate the occurrence of a labio-dental [f] in the Avar consonant system. Methods. Structural-descriptive, comparison, generalization. Results. The author found that the pronunciation of labio-dental [f] in the loan words from Russian became common in the Avar speech. Conclusions. Unlike borrowings from Oriental languages, the consonant [f] in the loan words from Russian the Avar people pronounce as labio-dental. Therefore, it can be assumed that the labio-dental [f] became common for the Avar phonetic system.Â
