Abstract: ABSTRACT. The aim of the study is studying the problems of the literary process in England of the 19-20th centuries in the context of the dialogue of cultures and periods. Methods. Cultural-historical, typological. Results. The author of the article studies the literary context in England at the turn of the centuries and the influence of the "great British tradition" of the 19th century on the literature of the second half of the 20th century, which shows its deep connection, organic inclusion in the English classics (T. Gardy, G. Lawrence, M. Bragg). Conclusions. Lyricism, the depth of the emotional relationships of the characters, the joy of merging with nature and its high cleaning power, this pathos pervades all the novels of Lawrence and M. Bragg, demonstrating the movement of aesthetic ideas and phenomena in English prose of the 50s-early 90s.Â
