POSITION OF NADIR SHAH’S TROOPS IN SOUTHERN DAGESTAN AND EVENTS IN “IRAN-KHARAB†AREA

Abstract: Aim. Description and analysis of Nadir Shah's plans to conquer Dagestan after some setbacks, which he suffered in battles in the highlands. Interpreting the the final stage of the struggle against Nadir Shah’s hordes.Methods. The methodological basis of the study is the principle of historicism and system analysis. The authors also use some practical methods, such as questionnaire and interview during collection of the field material. Results. The efforts undertaken by Nadir Shah to further Dagestan conquer have been thoroughly studied and generalized.Conclusions. Having established themselves on the territory of Southern Dagestan, the Iranian Shah was going to conduct punitive military operations against the Dagestan peoples in order to conquer them. However, the Dagestan peoples’ continuous struggle with the Iranian invaders at its final stage, i.e. in Southern Dagestan, in the "Iran-Kharab" area, where he established a fortified camp, was the determining factor in Nadir Shah’s stay of in the region.
