Difficulties of Studying the Aspect Category of the Russian Verb in the Avar School

Abstract: Aim. The authors of the article analyze the difficulties in determining the Russian verbal aspect and in using the different verbal aspects in the coherent Russian speech by pupils. They identify the causes of these errors and offer methods of training the Avar pupils to use the verbs with the perfective and imperfect aspects in the coherent speech.Methods. Analysis of pupils' mistakes in using the verbs of perfect and imperfect forms in coherent Russian speech, comparison of the category of the form in Russian and in the Avar language.Conclusions. The most productive ways are such techniques as: focusing the attention of Avar students on the relationship of the category of time and category of species; memorizing the system of particular values and methods of formation of species pairs.
