Abstract:
Aim. To reveal the theme of love in "The Legend of Shan's Daughter" by Mikail Bashtu, the only author's monument of Turkic literature of the period under study. Methods: comparative-historical, comparative, structural-functional.Results. The new poetic monument is defined by the author as a dastan, i. e. a song based on oral traditions. Currently, it includes stratifications of various historical stages, which are interconnected by socio-religious, ethno-cultural and other changes in the social formations of the peoples of the Volga region, the Urals, Southern Siberia and the Caspian Sea.Conclusions. This dastan is a unique monument of Turkic (Bulgarian) literature. The theme of love, revealed with the help of female characters of the "Legend", appears in two hypostases: as the theme of earthly love and as the theme of love for Allah. Bashtu acts as a popularizer of a new and saving for the Bulgars monotheistic religion at that time.
