Abstract:
The aim of the article is determining the role and place of literature, publicism, journal-publishing activity in the process of emergence and development of the civil society in Europe and Russia in the second half of the 18th century.Methods. Comparative-historical, collative methods allowedhte author to determine the chronology of genesis, development, common features in the emergence and development of the civil society in our country.Results. He determined that the most important stimulus for the building up the civil society in Europe was the active development of the economic and productive forces, the human knowledge of his own personality, and in Russia, first of all, the civil society arose under the influence of the teachings of leading European thinkers and humanists.Conclusion. The author found our that the active journal-publishing process in Europe and Russia became a powerful driver and catalyst in building up the platform for discussions on the development of civil society.
