EDUCACIÓN, CALIDAD DEL GOBIERNO Y DESARROLLO ECONÓMICO EN AMÉRICA, EUROPA, ÁFRICA Y ASIA

Abstract: Presentamos un análisis de la relación entre la educación, la calidad del Gobierno (mediante dos indicadores: Voz de los ciudadanos y Efectividad del gobierno) y el nivel de desarrollo económico, el cual tiene en cuenta otros factores relevantes como la industria, la inversión y las relaciones económicas internacionales. Analizamos los datos de América, Europa, Eurasia, África Asia y Oceanía y presentamos algunos modelos econométricos que sintetizan el efecto del capital humano y la calidad del Gobierno sobre el desarrollo. Insistimos en la importancia de aumentar el gasto educativo en la cooperación internacional a los países menos desarrollados, con objeto de poder alcanzar los Objetivos del Milenio (ODM).

We present an analysis of the relationship between education, the quality of government (measured by Voice of Citizens and Government Effectiveness) and the level of economic development, taking into account other relevant factors such as industry, investment and international economic relations. We analyze data from America, Europe, Eurasia, Africa, Asia and Oceania and present some econometric models that synthesize the effect of human capital and the quality of government on development. We emphasize the importance of increasing spending on education in international cooperation to LDCs, in order to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
