THE ENERGY SECTOR IN ENSURING RUSSIA'S ECONOMIC SECURITY: ANALYSIS OF THE PRIOD 2011-2023

Abstract: The article is based on the results of research conducted by the staff of the Research Institute "New Economics and Business" of the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics. The purpose of the study was to identify and assess the degree of influence of the state of the Russian energy sector on the level of economic security of the country. When writing the article, the methodological apparatus (quantitative and qualitative methods) was used, the authors presented the results of the study in the form of theoretical and empirical data on the stated research issues and tasks within the framework of the problem using previously designated materials and methods. The article substantiates a set of indicators for assessing economic security based on the works of Russian and foreign economists, as well as Russian strategic planning documents. This system of indicators can be applied in practice. The analysis of the features and current state of the Russian energy sector, including the country's position in the world energy markets, is carried out. The main internal and external threats to Russia's economic security, which are formed under the influence of energy factors, are identified. Measures are proposed to improve the domestic and foreign energy policy of Russia, as well as the legal regulation of Russian energy in order to increase the level of economic security of the country.
