Technical Efficiency on Performance in the Secondary Education Centres of A Coruña in Spain

Abstract: The objective of this study is to evaluate the performance of the secondary education centres of A Coruña in Spain using a production function, which allows us to measure their efficiency. To this end, data envelopment analysis is used, since it is inherently flexible and therefore most suited to the peculiarities of the education process. The results clearly demonstrate that the technical efficiency of the centres analysed is extremely high and that the factors, which do not come under the auspices of the manager i.e. the non-controllable factors, are fundamental to the efficiency of the centre.
