Abstract:
After the 1980s, financial liberalization occurred in the economies. Capital flows in the world are accelerating. Capital flows have produced different results in developed and developing countries. Capital flows affect the capital account, financial account and current account in the balance of payments. In our study, Granger causality analysis was done using VAR model for Turkey. For the period 1984-2016, portfolio investments in Turkey are not the reason for the current account deficit but they are found to be the cause of current portfolio investments.
