Abstract: Describe la solución desarrollada por el PREALC en Centroamérica, al considerar el concepto de nivel de vida como aquél en que mejor se plasman las complejas interrelaciones entre las variables demográficas y de desarrollo económico y social, y con esta perspectiva, sugiere una serie de orientaciones para plantear en un contexto adecuado los esfuerzos por definir políticas de población y desarrollo.
