Bank-based financing and catch-up innovation: A three-way interaction approach

Abstract:
This research provides evidence that the positive or negative effect of bank-based financing on catch-up innovation is conditional on the joint moderating effects of distance to frontier and trade openness. These findings help explain the mechanism underlying the link between financial development and regional innovation.
