Digital finance and firm green innovation: The role of media and executives

Wenwen Wang

Finance Research Letters, 2025, vol. 74, issue C

Abstract: This study aims to explore the influence of digital finance on firm green innovation and its underlying mechanisms, using data of A-share listed companies from 2011 to 2022. Findings indicate that digital finance positively affects firm green innovation by accelerating digital transformation. Media coverage and green executive cognition positively influence the impact of digital finance on green innovation. Heterogeneity test results reveal that digital finance has a more notable impact on firm green innovation in cities with better digital infrastructure.
