Abstract:
This study examines the transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on financial labor markets in China. Analyzing data from 31 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions between 2010 and 2022, the research finds that regional AI development considerably enhances employment and income levels in the financial sector. Furthermore, our heterogeneity analysis reveals that this positive effect is particularly pronounced in eastern coastal provinces and market-driven regions. A deeper understanding of how AI influences financial industry dynamics across China's diverse regions is essential for fostering sustainable growth in the sector during the AI era.
