Abstract:
Using data spanning 2010–2022 from 31 provinces, regions, and cities in China, this study explores the relationships among population aging, technological innovation, and income disparity among residents. Empirical results indicate that population aging and technological innovation widen the income gap among residents. Technological innovation moderates the relationship between aging and income disparity, with heterogeneity observed across regions. Moreover, technological innovation exerts threshold effects on income disparity.
