Abstract:
This study empirically examines the impact of industrial internet platform ecosystem embeddedness on enterprises' business model innovation, using data from Chinese A-share listed manufacturing companies between 2014 and 2023. The results reveal that such embeddedness not only directly promotes enterprises’ business model innovation but also indirectly enhances it by improving industrial chain integration. Heterogeneity analyzes indicate that industrial internet platform ecosystem embeddedness has no effect on the business model innovation of enterprises in the decline stage or those that are non-high-tech. The research conclusions provide empirical evidence for the role of industrial internet platforms in empowering business model innovation and offer practical insights for enterprises to leverage the industrial internet for business model innovation.
