Xiangrong Zhang, Yan Xu and Jie Zhou

Finance Research Letters, 2025, vol. 83, issue C

Abstract: This study utilizes data from the China Family Panel Studies (CFPS) to explore the impact of clan culture and commercial insurance on household consumption levels, based on empirical results. The findings indicate that clan culture suppresses household consumption levels; participation in commercial insurance promotes household consumption levels; family income plays a moderating role in the influence of clan culture on household consumption levels; and commercial insurance serves as a mediating factor in the relationship between clan culture and household consumption levels.
