Abstract:
Following a brief account of its principal components, the framework of statistical decision theory is shown to be applicable to selecting schedules by a heuristic procedure for the general J x M job shop problem. Sequential Bayesian strategies and explicit forms of stopping rules are obtained for the search procedure, together with bounds on required sample size.
