Abstract:
Investment in a greener and technologically advanced economy has greater potential for attaining equitable growth and sustainability. The emergence and significance of sustainable development's role in determining the quantum of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) have construed the investigation into its key research trends. Through bibliometric and content analysis, the study aims to analyse the key research trends and themes demystifying the inter-relationship between sustainability and FDI. The study highlights the most influential authors, journals, organisations, and countries working in the domain of sustainable FDI. The co-word analysis identifies the most cited research themes (economic growth, green finance, investments, carbon emissions, technological innovation, and institutional quality). Additionally, the clusters outline the mediating role of financial development and technological innovation in influencing sustainable development. The study examines the various aspects of sustainability and highlights the critical implications for policymakers to consider for a greener and technologically advanced environment through FDI.
