Barbara Czarniawska
Scandinavian Journal of Management, 2013, vol. 29, issue 1, 7-12
Abstract:
This paper illustrates the process and effects of increasing the demand for speed in the production of news, using the example of three news agencies – followed by the description of a phenomenon that epitomizes problems related to speed requirements: algorithmic trading in finances. The paper ends with general discussion of the phenomena of acceleration and resistance to it in contemporary societies.
