Abstract:
•Using DEA to evaluate efficiency of Bolsa Familia Program toward realization of MDGs.•Efficiency of public policy can provide indicator for governmental decision-making.•Social efficiency indicates conversion of economic growth into human development.•Only 3 states (DF, SC and RS) were efficient and occupied the first positions of HDI.•BF alone is not enough to change the reality of poverty and inequalities in Brazil.
