Abstract: Self-rated health (SRH) is commonly assessed in large surveys, though responses can be influenced by different individuals' perceptions of and beliefs about health. Therefore, instead of providing evidence of ‘true’ health disparities across groups, findings may actually reflect reporting heterogeneity.
