On the strong consistency of a solution to the likelihood equation

Stavros Kourouklis

Statistics & Probability Letters, 1987, vol. 5, issue 1, 23-27

Abstract: In a recent paper Basu and Ghosh (1980) established weak consistency and asymptotic normality of a solution to the likelihood equation in two important cases arising in life testing under type I censoring. In this paper we supplement the work of Basu and Ghosh by establishing strong consistency. This result is obtained as an application of a general result that may as well be applied to other cases. Two more examples from regression are also considered.
