An unexpected result in an approximate carrier-borne epidemic process

Abstract: In this article we examine an approximation to the carrier-borne epidemic process with both susceptible and carrier immigrations. It is shown that the approximate susceptible stochastic process is Poisson, with a mean equal to the deterministic number of susceptibles.
