Abstract:
This article demonstrates that Chinese planners in the post and telecommunication sector are fully aware of the relationship between general economic development and the development of an infrastructure for telecommunications and information. Accordingly, China has set ambitious targets for the growth of the sector. The article documents China's rapid growth in the telecommunication sector and outlines some of China's development goals. It also discusses some research on the relationship between economic development and telecommunications investment conducted in China and the USSR.
