Abstract:
The Telecommunications Council, an advisory body of the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, presented on 29 February, 1996, a report on the status of NTT. The report proposes a divestiture of NTT, more deregulation, and a positive promotion of interconnection. This paper discusses the central conclusions of the report and provides a personal perspective on the future status of Japan's infocommunications industry.
