European patent applications in biotechnology in the 1980s: Some statistical data

Abstract:
Patent applications and granted patents in biotechnology at the European Patent Office are analysed from the standpoint of country and applicant, and the changes during the 1980s noted. The rate of growth in various branches of biotechnology, such as genetic engineering, production of biosynthetic compounds, etc. is also analysed.
