Australian patent applications 1979-1989: An analysis

Bryan Dwyer

World Patent Information, 1992, vol. 14, issue 1, 17-20

Abstract: This paper analyses the composition of and increase in patent applications in Australia during the 10 year period from 1979 to 1989. Two significant events occurred in the Australian industrial property scene in 1979 and 1980 at the beginning of this period. On 1 July 1979 legislation came into force which made available the Australian Petty Patent. On 31 March 1980 the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) became operational in Australia. The analysis includes identification of the main countries of origin of the applicants for Australian patents.
