Developements in the japanese patent office

Abstract: The developement of publication of Japanese patent and utility model applications on mixed-mode CD-ROM is described and is followed by a description of the present status of the electronic application systems. Version 1 of the latter has been in operation since 1 December 1991 and is largely concerned with the electronic filing of applications. Version 2 is expected to start in July 1993 and is mainly concerned with replacement of paper files of applications by electronic dossiers and the provision of online dealings by the public with the office in the course of examination.
