World Patent Information, 1999, vol. 21, issue 1, 5-7

Abstract: The downturn in the innovative capability of European companies, indicated by a reduction in the proportion of both US and EP patent applications from such companies, and the resulting initiatives from the European Commission to reverse this trend are described. These initiatives include encouragement of a European patent information network, and a further attempt to establish a Community Patent.
