The use of external databases as a supplementary tool to traditional searches of a patent examiner

Abstract:
The use of external databases is regarded in the competition between classification and documentation. A selection of databases of the worldwide offer has been made with respect to the use in the field of introduction in the German Patent Office (DPA). The selection is assigned to the examination divisions of the DPA and the units of the IPC and is illustrated by a table. In this context examples of numbers and expenditures of computer-aided searchers are given. Qualifications for the examiner's working situation are mentioned. mentioned. Future tasks are outlined based on the DPA statistics as of 1975.
