Abstract:
A survey of the most important databases available for searching chemical reactions and the corresponding search possibilities is given. In particular the suitability of the online databases containing patents is shown for typical reaction searches with the aid of appropriate examples. The reasons for the different results of the online databases are examined. The urgency of an online database containing all chemical reactions published in patents and journals becomes obvious.
