Abstract:
Appropriate technology can be developed to improve living conditions in remote rural areas. In transfer of technology, patent documents may play an important role. A Documentation and Information Centre for developing countries should be specifically directed to assist in this transfer of technology. In this respect, the usefulness is demonstrated, of patents dealing with simple manual tools such as spades and of patents relating to solar energy.
