Use of the Pergamon InfoLine get command for bibliometric analysis of patent information

Charles Oppenheim

World Patent Information, 1986, vol. 8, issue 2, 98-103

Abstract: The article describes the use of bibliometrics (the application of mathematical techniques to the problems of documentation) to the question of the distribution of patents between patentees. The study was performed using the Pergamon InfoLine GET command and was carried out on the INPADOC and PATSEARCH files. The data was tested against various theories of distribution and it was found that the Negative Binomial distribution gave the best fit.
