Abstract: This paper focuses on the analysis of accidents in the automobile insurance industry. The main objective of our work consists on the determination of the most significant factors that influence the number of accidents that policyholders declare to their insurance companies. The existence of guilt in the accidents is an aspect we especially consider as well. We carry out an econometric analysis using the provided data by a Spanish private insurance company and zero-inflated count data models. The features of these types of models can lead to take them as the most appropriate theoretic solution for studying this question
