Abstract: This paper applies the methodology of real options to value investment to expand the services of a hotel. The project value is estimated through the traditional method of net present value (NPV) and rejected it. Subsequently assessing the project with the expansion option and this is accepted. We present different approaches to calculate the volatility is one of the factors necessary to use the methodology of real options
