Savings as an economic category

B. Kvasnyuk

Economy and Forecasting, 2000, issue 1, 13-27

Abstract: The author considers one of the central problems in the economic theory. Efficient solution of the problem of savings has a decisive influence on economic growth rates, the level of technological progress and, eventually, on the economic power of a country and welfare of its people. Theoretical analysis of savings in this article is based on the concept of incomes in national accounts. In this connection the author specially considers the essence of inter-sectoral balance as an instrument to analyze income, the mechanism of its creation and realization. Special attention is given to the indicator of gross national available income by which index a nation's economic potential is measured.
