Strategic structuring of the regional human development components (on the case of Zakarpatska oblast)

Abstract: In this work, the authors carry out an original research of the main tendencies in the dynamics of human development index during 1999-2000 on the case of Zakarpattia, whose peculiar feature is the use of a special analytical toolkit aiming to reveal the priorities towards the HDI improvement. For that purpose, they are using dynamic rows and structural analysis, and, for the first time, analytical quadrants are formed using the distribution and weight of specially grouped HDI components. The research shows that, in Ukraine's interregional comparisons, Zakarpattia has a stable tendency towards a higher than average HDI rank. The authors suggest possible ways of improving the HDI in the oblast.
