Economic evaluation of fixed capital: International practice and Ukrainian realities

I. Bobuh

Economy and Forecasting, 2010, issue 1, 39-53

Abstract: The author points out that creation of a powerful potential for economic development, in which a sizable place belongs to fixed capital as an important factor of the implementation of structural change in the economy, is one of the main preconditions for successful resistance to the globalization threats at the national level. On the results of an economic evaluation of Ukraine's fixed capital in the international context, the article reveals essential disproportions in its generation. To minimize them, it is necessary to develop and take comprehensive measures to raise the volume of investment into fixed capital, which should be followed by corresponding investment in human capital, rationalization of the use of the natural resource potential and optimization of the generation of financial capital.
