A.Burns' cyclical indicators as an instrument of economic forecasting

Abstract:
The article in dedicated to life and scientific activities of the talented researcher of business cycles A.Burns (1904-1987), and his composite outstripping indicators, which have been an essential tool in the prevision of business cycles for almost 80 years. The author emphasizes the urgent character of A.Burns' definition of economic cycle as a specific type of fluctuations in the government's economic activities. Also, very urgent is the issue of the role of cyclical transformations, inherent in the process of reproduction.
