Inversión industrial y localización: una aproximación al caso de los municipios de la Cuenca del Nervión

Abstract: In the article, an analysis is made of the aggregate data obtained from investment projects presentes to the ZUR of the Nervion during the time it was in effect. It has been based on the supposition that in such a significant area for Basque economy, the majority of new business initiatives attempt to obtain ZUR air due to which it is intented to make an initial approach to the tendencias which investments followed in the Autonomous Commynity of the Basque Country during the years underreview. The most important conclusions are those relating to the high investment cost for every job created, the slowness of the process of sectorial diversification; the predominance of tradicional activities and their development based, fundamentally, on endogenous potentials; the relatively scarce importance of foreign investment and the intemational projection of new companies; the weakness of the process of generation of advanced producer services; as well as the great attraction which municipalities with a low concentration of tradicional industrias have for companies based on more dynamic approaches, and where an effort has been made to offer industrial land in good conditions.
