EKONOMIAZ. Revista vasca de Economía, 1990, vol. 16, issue 01, 10-19

Abstract: The agro-foods sector covers all activities relating to production, processing and marketing of agricultural and food products. its importance is clear in all developed countries. Food continues to be, not only a need for which consumers allocate large amounts of money, but is a constant source of concern for the effect it has on health. Rural areas are now receiving a level of attention unheard of before. The quality of life of those persons who live in that environment is valued, irrespective of carrying out their work in other sectors such as industry and services. In this study, general reflections are made on the main aspects which will affect the agro-food sector in the future: rural development, industrialisation and marketing, food consumption, technology, agro-food organisation and policy.
