Abstract: We are witnessing an interesting moment of change and development in this sector. The decrease in the use of our wood for paper pulp, the growth of our sawmill industry and the orientation of our insignis pine wood towards uses of greater value have generated an important problem in the processing sector. Sawmills have faced up to this situation with two different strategies. On the one hand, they have improved their equipment and techinques and, on the other, they offer higher-quality processed goods. In a few years, pino insignis has gone from being a low-quality product to its inclusion in the list of highly-regarded materials and its use in the furniture and construction industry as an ornament and specialised structure.
