Abstract:
More and more clearly, the spaceship Earth is revealing its limitations and its lack of capacity to assimilate the impacts caused by the prevailing economic model. This situation could not fail to have an influence on economic thought. The intention of this article is to analyse some aspects of this influence, using documents of international economic organisations for this purpose. Specifically, a growing acceptance is detected of the need to integrase the ecological variable into all decisions of an economic nature. But when an assessment is made of the repercussions of this integration for economic growth, we are faced with different points of view, but which coincide more and more frequently, creating a very confusing situation. However, the debate on the repercussion of ecological policies on growth is meaningless, as whatever the short-term repercussions may be, only an economic model capable of fully integrating the ecological dimension will endure the test of time.
