Abstract: This article describes the capacity of hydraulic power available in different areas of the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country, indicating the system of supply to urban centres. With respect to the demand for water, this in volves its quantification for the main urban centres, pointing out the need to extend the hydraulic resources of some areas of the Community in accordance with forecasts of the evolution of the demand for water in the future. The great losses which are produced in the present system of supply are also taken account of, establishing the demand forecasts, both in the case of the continuance of these losses and in the case these were reduced.
