Abstract: The following article approaches the current situation of new information technologies in the Basque Country from two different points of view. First, as refers to its introduction in productive activities through manufacturing equipment and processes (automation, process computerization, etc.) while at the same time reflecting certain data on the Basque electronics industry. The article then analyzes the presence of NIT such as telematic services and electronic information. In both cases attention is paid to promotion programs and initiatives undertaken by the Basque administration on the matter (ECTA, IMI, SPRITEL, etc.). Finally, a global appraisal is made and a few ideas on the future of such technologies are briefly presentes.
