Abstract: This work analyzes the dynamic of the Basque financial sector in the last ten years. It is aimed at achieving a scope of the whole ensemble of institutions to outline the profile of the sector in the Basque Country. Due to bank overwhelming activity within economy, this analysis focuses on banking. The role of the basque government concerning financial matters is also evaluated. The background idea is that, even though we admit it is essential, the financial sector is not enough to secure any economic development.
