Abstract:
As is well known, financial accounts show the extent of savings by the various institutional agents of the economy and the operations through which such savings are materializad. They are also an important contribution to research on the relation between the real and the financiar worlds, since net financiar savings are equivalent to the excess of avallable national savings on gross capital formation for the economy as a whole. This paper introduces the first results of financial accounts in the Basque economy for the 1985-1991 period, expressed both in terms of stock and flow. The introduction examines the study on a theoretical basis and offers a global appraisal there of. This is followed by a detailed description of the methods used. The study ends whit a display of results obtained by major institutional sectors and instruments.
